In the neighborhood

Aug. 17, 2020

Dale and Nancy Hanaman appreciated the help with clean up after the derecho hit on Monday. Assisting were their son Matthew from Eau Claire, WI; their grandchildren Steven, Elizabeth and Andrea; their daughter Sarah Pearson and Steven’s friend, Ashley Sucher, all from Superior, WI.

When Elizabeth and Andrea were here right after the storm, they enjoyed a game of UNO by candlelight and flashlight for over an hour with Nancy finally emerging victorious, even with the challenge of determining if cards were blue or green.

They appreciated offers to help from others around. This is indeed a time when people have reached out to one another.

Kale Borgeson and Grandma Jean certainly have “hung” out more this week. We rode out the storm in the basement and while waiting for the electricity to come back, enjoyed some respite at the Rippey library, one of his favorite places. I hope by the time this week’s paper is published, my friends north and east of Rippey will have their power restored.
